Workshops, Webinars, and Meetups#
We provide a number of workshops, trainings, and events for those are looking for research and computing support. We offer onboarding sessions and introductory workshops and trainings for our Research Computing Center, which are a brief introduction to:
- How to register and connect to our service platforms
- How the cluster works and its differences with VPS service
- Panthera's layout and its scheduler
- How to connect to the Panthera cluster
- The filesystems used inside Panthera
- Basic Linux commands and how to load input files
- How to write a job script and submitting that to the queue
- How to adjust the timing of the submitted jobs
These are a good compressed intro courses if you are new to NHPCC or HPC in general.
In case of your absence on attending the live sessions, please visit the NHPCC's events to catch up on previous recordings.
The workshops and trainings offer a good chance for more generalized questions about the Panthera, Slurm, Linux usage, data storage, queue structures/scheduling, job optimization and general capabilities of Panthera. It is also useful for more technically nuanced questions that may not be easily answered with our ticketing system.

Office Hours Booking#
Sending a ticket via IUT ticketing system is always the best first option for questions. That way you can include detailed descriptions of the problem or question, valuable output and error messages and any steps you took when you encountered your error. Also, everyone on our team will see your ticket, enabling the most appropriate group member to respond.

We have provided a service for you to make online appointments before comming to our Research Center.

We cannot accommodate walk-ins: we're unfortunately not staffed to welcome unscheduled visits, so please make sure that you're planning to stop by during office hours. We will not be able to help you otherwise.

We can rarely help with application-specific or algorithm problems.

You should plan your projects sufficiently in advance and not come to office hours at the last minute before a deadline. NHPCC is a busy resource with a wide variety of users and you should not expect your jobs to complete before a given date.

Not all questions and problems can be answered or solved during office hours, especially ones involving hardware, filesystem or network issues. NHPCC features several thousand computing, networking and storage components, that are constantly being monitored by our team. You can be sure that when NHPCC has an issue, we are aware of it and working on it.

During in-person troubleshooting visits, problems can indeed be solved quickly or progress can be made so that you can then work self-sufficiently towards a solution on your own.
